Last Blossom, we began to look at the Proverbs 31 woman. It's a familiar proverbs in the Bible about a virtuous woman. Right at the beginning we see that the Proverbs 31 woman is worth far more than rubies. The verse begins by stating ' who can find a virtuous woman? For she is worth far more than rubies'. As you read further you see that it's not her net worth that makes her special, but her Network - how she impacts the people around her.
The verse goes on to say her husband has full confidence in her. Now when you read about the Proverbs 31 woman, don't think of it as a woman who is married, because as you can imagine, she didn't suddenly become the virtuous woman. It takes time to build character and instil such confidence. Confident is the woman that you are and need to be even before you enter into any relationship. If you don't know who you are, entering into a relationship has the power to make or mar you; so your confidence is something you need to work on and develop.
When I was a teenager, and first learnt about the Proverbs 31 woman, I always wanted to be her. I wanted to be this Independent Woman that lacks no good thing, and able to support her family and reach out to those in need. For this reason I was eager to earn, save and develop my character. I know the Proverbs 31 Woman seems like a very high standard that we can't all attain, but it is a good model to aspire to; therefore the desire to be 'Forever 31'.
We will continue to study the Proverbs 31 woman, but to summarise, right at the beginning of the first verses, it becomes clear that this Woman has character and impacts her world. Your world may be your neighbours next door, or your friends. Don't ever think you can't impact others. If you can't run, then walk; if you can't walk, then stand up. If you can't stand up, then just speak. There is always something you can do to reach out. The Proverbs 31 woman believed she could, and she did! As I had tea with the girls last Blossom, we discussed just how we can believe and do just like the Proverbs 31 woman. You too can. By reaching out to others, you invariably grow. How wonderful is that?! Be a woman, that Grows; be a person that reaches out a hand :)
Love Sue.
